How do your classes work? Will I be cooking?
Our classes begin with an orientation of the kitchen, and an overview of the recipes that you will be preparing. Our classes are very much a "hands on" experience, and we encourage you to participate as much as you want. Generally, the hands on cooking portion of each class is approximately 1.5 hours, with time allocated afterward to enjoy all the delicious food that you have prepared.
What is the capacity of your classes?
Our "Hands On"classes take up to 20ppl. Our "Own the Kitchen" and "Skills" classes take up to 16ppl. We run a class with a minimum of 10ppl.
Do I need cooking experience to attend a class?
Not at all! We love guests with all levels of comfort and experience in the kitchen. In each class we go over safety in the kitchen, as well as basic knife skills, and there will be clear recipes at each station to follow. We also have our talented team of chefs to work with you throughout the class.
What is your allergy + dietary restriction policy?
As food people, we understand that allergies + intolerances are becoming a part of everyday life. At Dish we work extremely hard to accommodate dietary restrictions, and appreciate knowing your needs ahead of your chosen class. However, there are some menus that we are unable to change or adjust without sacrificing the integrity of the dishes. You will notice that we have flagged dietaries that we are not able to accommodate for specific classes.
For example, we do not recommend that you sign up for the "Pasta skills" class if you have a gluten intolerance, or the "Thai" class if you cannot have seafood. If you still choose to sign up for a class that has been flagged, you are more than welcome to take your food portions home and give them to someone who is able to enjoy them.
Are you Licensed? Can I bring my own wine to class?
We are fully licensed to serve wine, beer and spirits. When you arrive for your class you will receive a welcome cocktail (not included in skills classes), and for the duration of the class and dinner our 'smart serve' hosts will be happy to provide full bar service. We do not allow BYOW for any scheduled classes.
Can kids attend? What is the minimum age?
We are offering a March Break Kids Culinary Camp from March 16th to arch 20th. Details Coming Soon! In terms of our regualr class programing, our skills classes seem to be the most suitable for young people. Date night classes are not recommended for kids, nor classes such as "Cooking with Bourbon". If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact the studio for guidance.
Do you sell gift cards for your classes?
Yes! We sell "e-gift" cards which you can purchase directly through our website 24/7, and will get emailed to you automatically upon purchase. No more waiting for it in the mail! You can select for any class format, or select a specific dollar value. They can be used towards any format or class we offer. Recipients can simply go to our online calendar, select a class to take, and use the gift card code to redeem online. They do not expire, and they cannot get lost, as we have our online database of purchases to track all outstanding gift cards. When purchasing, you will be asked for your contact details, as well as those of the recipient, but dont worry, we wont email them the gift card directly, unless you opt in for that during checkout.
I have a gift card, how do I use it?
You can use your gift card to attend any of our cooking classes or to shop in our cafe + retail area. They do not expire.
If you would like to register for a class with a gift card you can do so either through our website or by calling our studio. At the time of registration, you will be asked for your gift card number. If you have a paper card, it will be a 3 digit number. If you are using a plastic card, it will be a 18 digit number as well as a 3 digit CVC number. We do not redeem these 2 kinds of gift cards at the time of registration, we ask that you bring them with you to the class for the host to redeem in person.
NEW! We now have e-gift cards available now for online booking. To redeem, simply pick the class you would like to take, select "Attendee with e-gift" NOT "Attendee with Gift Card" when selecting number of seats, and when prompted, select e-gift coupn code and enter your unique gift card code. It will automatically get redeemed. You can use your e-gift card towards any class type.
I need to change my booking, can I do that?
Yes! As long as we recieve 48 hours notice you we are more than happy to switch your booking to a new date. If you aren't sure exactly what new date you can make, we can keep a credit on file for you to use when you are ready, it won't expire.
What is your cancellation policy?
Unfortunately, there are no refunds for classes. A credit will be issued for a future class if we are provided with at least 48 hours class cancellation notice. No changes are allowed if the class is missed or less than 48 hours cancellation notice is given, however, we welcome you to send someone in your place. This is a strict policy, ABSOLUTLEY NO EXCEPTIONS due to weather, illness, traffic etc.
If you fail to show up to a class, no credit is offered and there are no make up classes. We plan for classes based on a confimred number of guests. With less than 48 hours notice, there is not sufficient time to fill the seats with new guests.
Consider our cooking classes like cooking “events” or a concert. If you failed to show up to a concert, you cannot get a credit back from the concert venue, no matter the reason. Please think of our cooking classes the same way!
Dish reserves the right to cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment with a minimum of 48 hours prior notice. We reserve the right to alter the the menu or change the instructor if necessary.
